SERVE THE TABLE: Dining Table Organizer
Designing a Tissue Paper Box - This project is on developing such one which would do more than keeping tissue papers. Blending into dining tables serving cutleries and salts while being an easy to use tissue dispenser, Sturdy and elegant to be a part of your dining, everyday!

This is just a glimpse of the final product! See the entire process right below :)
PROCESS
MARKET RESEARCH BOARD:
The following is a research on existing products in the market, which are bought by various of customer groups in terms of style, material, dimensions and weight. You can see the line of price ranges, ideal dimensions and weight categories if you refer this. Even colour patterns or combinations, Materials used and extra functions in the product.
MARKET SURVEY BOARD:
I conducted a survey through selected range of people, including café workers and customers to neighbourhood home makers to students to know their preferences and opinions on the tissue paper boxes being used at the present. Here are the results I got from the 32 respondents, on the project. Even better, I was provided with a lot of feedbacks and opinions on design development. The suggestions helped me in design development.
PRODUCT BOARD:
All the researches about the present market, These are few types of tissue paper boxes that are quite abundant and preferred by the mass. I have listed the major companies as well as materials preferred.
INSPIRATION BOARD:
I took inspiration from mushrooms. Just a starting point to develop on the product form and structure. Mushrooms have very organic of curves and textures which I have channelled into my project.
THEME BOARD:
Referring multiple products and styles, I have decided on creating the product which is made of wood, with contrasting colours balancing each other out. Smooth curves and shape should give a elegant touch to the product.
FORM DEVELOPMENT:
The following is my form development journey. You can see my derivation in the upcoming sketches.
SKETCHES AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
The following is my development of product from the selected form. It includes selection of functionalities, adding and modifying of elements to add to the product and its uses.
PROTOTYPE STAGE 01
The following is a draft prototype made in blender made out of the concept till now. Next, we will be working with practicality and technical aspects of the product.
CONSTRUCTION:
The following is my brainstorming and thought process on construction of the product keeping minimal consumption of materials and Product quality in mind.
On ideating to make the box with wood boards, I will have to cut out and layer panels of wood. Considering the shape we have, I decided to make sure that the left over pieces will be put to use in some or other form of associate piece of product, like a saucer or coaster.
Further, I decided to take off the door, as well as partition the container since the narrow edge would be hard to reach and to clean. Also the tissues would move around and the space will be wasted off potential. making cut outs instead of doors, two ways to two chambers, partitioned in between (tissue chamber is kept bigger and wider). The other chamber can be used for things like toffees or mouth fresheners or sugar sachets etc.
I took off the hooks for spoons and forks concept since 1) It takes more space for few cutlery, 2) It cannot be used for any other purpose 3) Harder to place and take the cutlery, 4) Cutlery might fall out off balance or the user will have to balance them each time they keep. Instead I decided to go for a very simple idea of wooden container which can be used in multiple ways, and can be made from the latter parts from cutting along with the small bowl. The following is the Finalized Technical Details Of the Product.
Final Tech Sheet:
             Total Dimension: 26cm x 16cm x 10cm.
PROTOTYPE STAGE 02
Process:
The prototype made in Blender with accurate measurements and technicalities. Used in coming sections in usecase presentation and product photos. The product is also produced physically and is in later section of this very project.
Orthographic Views:
Front, Back, Sides, Top and Isometric view renders with the help of orthographic camera in Blender.
3D RENDERS AND PRODUCT VIDEO:
Prototype Construction:
I made a functional low budget version of the product, using leftover wood blocks and materials from a workshop nearby, with the help and expertise from Devisree Woodworks, Madhapur, Avoiding wastage of materials, I opted to work with spare pieces or pieces from leftovers in that very workshop for the construction. Plywood of 8mm where used for the top parts and base (two layers on top and one layer in the bottom). Made the dips by cutting out from the top most layer and using the second layer as its base. The walls were constructed from 3 blocks of Teak wood, Which I chose because of its durability and qualitative features. I have made sure that the partition part in the walls was kept thin so as to keep maximum useable area in the cavity without compromising support.
The making (Raw sounds alert):
